George Engle, George Labar, and Mary Engle of Upper Mount Bethel grant a tract of land, 201 and 3/4th acres to Joshua Hagerman, blacksmith, of Upper Mount Bethel for the sum of 375 punds. Boundaries include owners: Henry Dills, George Labar, John Myous, John Myers, Samuel Kikendall, and John Ruthrock. The land was first granted to Hugh Patterson by the Proprieters on May 19, 1747.

Francis and Joshua of Upper Mount Bethel purchase 53 acres and 25 perches of a tract of land called "Greenwood" for $521 from Samuel & Mary Kirkendall of Knowton Twp., Sussex Co., NJ. This tract was first granted on January 24, 1759 to Jacob Sneider. Boundaries in 1810 included owners: John Meyers, John Long, William Mack, John Scott, and Henry Dills.

When tracing the children, I found that there are two Frances Hagermans in this area both born in 1823. One married a Mary, ours married a a Julianna - which we know from the land deed in 1864. The 1880 census lists our Frances as Frank H - leading me to a passport application in the name of Frances Henry Hagerman, confirming his date of birth as February 1 1823. The other Frances was born in May of 1823.
I'm curious about the tombstones. Most researchers beleive that this Joshua married second, Susanna Labar. Her tombstone is in the Mount Bethel Cemetery:
