"He was born in Danville & Attended school there" - Annals of Columbia & Montour Counties

Residence:
"For some time he lived with his brother Joseph on the latters farm in Valley twp, and farming was his business throughout life."

So we know he had a brother named Joseph.

According to Historical and biographical annals of Columbia and Montour counties - Jame's father was John.

DANIEL F. CROSSLEY, a retired merchant and justice of the peace, residing in West Hemlock township, Montour county, was born May 3, 1884, in that township, a son of William T. Crossley, grandson of James Crossley, and great-grandson of John Crossley.
John Crossley, the great-grandfather, came to what is now Montour county with his brother, George Crossley, from Berks county, Pa. He settled first in Danville and possibly spent his life there. He married and had three sons: Joseph, George and James. In his later years Joseph was a farmer in Valley township.
James Crossley, the grandfather of Daniel Flick Crossley, was born in Danville and attended school there. For some time he lived with his brother Joseph on the latter's farm in Valley township, and farming was his business throughout life. He died in 1830, about the time the Presbyterian Church was built in West Hemlock township, and was buried in Columbia cemetery. He married Christianna Sidler, who was born in Columbia county, and they had the following children: Joseph, who moved to Tiffin, Ohio; George, born 1804, died 1874, who married Leah Welliver; John, who married Margaret Stettler; James; William T., who married Mary Flick; Rachel, wife of George Walter; Catherine, who married David Gibson and lived at Benton; Jane, who married in the West; Hannah, who became Mrs. Smith and moved to Iowa; David, who married Rachel Bright; and Charles, who married Martha Leidy.

1784 - Christianna Sidler was born
Her parents are thought to be Jacob & Mary Elizabeth Sidler - but although there is a record of thier son Jacob's birth and baptism in 1783 & 1784 in the Trinity Reformed Church (UCC)  records, there is no record of Christianna, so I am not convinced.

1799 - James Crossley married Christianna Sidler

1800 - Son Joseph H. Crossley is born
December 16 1800 - Jan 2 1889
He married Mary Ann Snyder, they moved to Ohio

1816- Son William Crossly is Born

1819 - Daughter Mary Crossley is Born
"Mary was the daughter of James Crossley (1779-1830) - one of the first Crossleys to the area. He had 13 children, she looks to be about the 5th child. James was born in Northampton Co., PA and came to the then Northumberland Co. area around 1805. Columbia Co. was formed from Northumberland Co. in 1813. Montour Co. wasn't formed from Columbia Co. until 1850. James' will is on file in the Montour Co. courthouse listing Mary and his other heirs. James is buried in Columbia Hill Cemetery -  he was married to Christianna Sidler." - source: online message board

IF William Crossley is the father of George and John Crossley, here is information on him -
William Crossly married Martha Galphin, sister of George Galphin -
"George Galphin wrote his will on April 5, 1776, providing for his family and many others, including David Holmes, the son of his sister, Margaret, and his trading partner until David's death at Pensacola in 1779, his sisters Judith Galphin, Margaret Holmes, Mrs. Young who was in Ireland, and Martha Crossley, the wife of William Crossley, to Timothy Barnard, and to all the "poor widows and fatherless children within 30 miles of my home", as well as to "all the orphan children I have raised, to the poor of Eneskilling and Armagh in Ireland, to John McQueen and his brother Alexander Galphin, and to Parson Seymour and his wife."
