Jacob Endy was born in Germany in 1736. He came to America on the Ship John and Elizabeth to the port of Philadelphia in 1754.
It had come from Amersterdam and Portsmouth, from Hanau, the Palatinate and Wurtemberg according to Captain Ham. Jacob was one of the 120 Protestants on board along with 11 Roman Catholics. His name is spelled Ende and he signed by the X Jacob Ende. I traced the name. According to a DAR report the name was spelled many ways Ende, Endi, Endy, Andy, Antes, or Ande. It says he first lived in Montgomery County and then moved to Berks County. His children were baptized in the Hanover Lutheran Church which still exists near Boyertown, Pennsylvania close to Routes 100 and 76. He did not have a will but his Administrative Papers are filed in Berks County, Pennsylvania in 1789 as well as Orphan's Court Records for his youngest son, Mathias. This time his name is spelled Endy in one paper and Ennde in another.

Johannes and George were illiterate as indicated by the X in the middle of their names, which were set down in the same hand. Adolph apparently could write his own name. There were actually three lists. The heading of the C list reads:
