1815 - Elias is Born
Pennsylvania
His birthdate is found differently by researchers all over the internet.. probably because it's different in every record! Calculating back from the death date on his tombstone, using the age given on the tombstone, he was born Sept. 17 1815.
In the 1850 Census, he is listed as age 25, born in 1825. He is actually 35 in 1850, so that is a simple mistake. in 1860 he is listed as 37, when he is actually 45. In 1870 he is listed as 51, born in 1819 - he would actually be 55. The children and wife are consistent, and the location is consistent, there is no reason to believe this is not the same Elias.
The 1860 , 1870 & 1880 census says he was born in Pa. In 1880 it also says his parents were born in PA.

An article in the Harrisburg Telegraph in 1911 states that Susan never learned english - even though she was born here in America. All of her children must have been fluent in German.

About 1846 - age 4 in the 1850 census, Age 15 in the 1860 census, I do not know where she is after that. I cannot find a death certificate for her in PA.
