His occupation on his death certificate was painter.
Edward Allen "Dutch" Oberdorf died on February 26th 1957, after spending 236 days in Lawrence Flick State hospital. cause of death was tuberculosis
History of the Lawrence Flick Hospital:
In June 1910, the Cresson Tuberculosis Sanatorium was opened in 1916. The location was considered as ideal due to the abundance of fresh air and the treatments used to combat the disease. The present administration building was built in the European style with gargoyles on the tower and the crests of Scottish clans cut into the sandstone as a reminder of Mr. Carnegie's heritage.
With the introduction of new drugs and treatments for tuberculosis, the need for sanatoriums declined. In December 1956 the facility was incorporated into the Lawrence F. Flick State Hospital being run by the Department of Public Welfare to treat the mentally ill. (Dutch was admitted in July 1956, when this was still a tuberculosis facility)

1923 - Shot in A Hunting Accident
HUNTER SHUT ACCIDENTALLY ON BUFFALO MTS.
John Oberdorf of Milton Shot Accidentally While Hunting for Bear Last Friday in the Buffalo Mountians near Mazeppa
Member of Party Held Under the State Law
John Oberdorf, of Milton, well known hunter and fisherman is in the Geisinger Hospital at Danville with a serious gunshot in his shoulder and Walter Keiser, Milton barber and member of the party of hunter with whom Mr. Oberdorf was hunting for bears is being held charged with the accidental shooting. The party of hunters, which included Henry and John Oberdorf, D. Maust, Wm. Ashenfelder and Walser Keiser, of Milton, were hunting for the bears in Buffalo mountains, north of Mazeppa last Monday. While driving for bruin the party raised a wild turkey, and though armed with rifles they decided to try for the gobbler. It is believed the patch of red on the back of Mr. Oberdorf's coat attracted the fire of the hunter, said to be Mr. Kieser.
A groan from the wounded man, told his horrified comrades that he had been hit, and the party was quickly assembled and plans were made for securing medical aid, as the scene of the accident was miles from any physician. Making a crude stretcher, Mr. Oberdorf, was carried four miles to the home of John Swartz near the Black Run School House and Doctor Focht, of Lewisburg, was summoned to give temporary medical attention before the trip to the Geisinger Hospital was continued.
Although the accident occurred about eight o'clock it was nearly two o'clock in the afternoon before the victim reached the hospital. An examination revealed that the bullet had entered one shoulder, and traveled across the man's back and left through the other shoulder narrowly missing the backbone.
While it was too early to determine the seriousness of the wound, it was said at the hospital that barring complications the victim of the near tragedy has very good chance of recovery. As soon as word of the accident reached Lewisburg, Sheriff Hackenberg went to the scene and held Kieser, for the shooting. Under a state law passed in recent years by the Legislature it is a serious offense to shoot a human being in mistake for game, and it is under this law that Mr. Kieser is being held under $500 bail for his appearance in court by Justice F. E.
Bower, Mr. Kieser denies that he fired the shot that nearly cost Mr. Oberdorf's life.
Keiser was acquitted in January 1924.

January 1937 he removes his grandson from his will, and adds Nora as a second executor, along with James. In 1934 he has 44 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. He must have had more than one grandson in 1931 when he wrote the will? I am not sure what made him include just Adrian, then change his mind and remove him 6 years later.
The independent inventory and appraisal of his estate was conducted by John G. Mook and Daniel Mook, in 1941. In 1940, John G. Mook married Mary (Oberdorf) Aikey, daughter of John G. Oberdorf, widow of Paul Aikey.
The inventory included a cook stove, desk, extension table, clock and wood box, piano, library table, 20 yards Brussels Carpet, 5 rocking chairs and "radio battery", among other items.
