The Houser Sisters

William Henry Houser was born February 1860, the son of George & Anna (Moyer) Moser.  He, along with his siblings Catherine, Sarah Elizabeth, & Anna Louisa, were all born and raised in Chapman Twp, Snyder County PA.
The 1880 Census tells us that William was a boat builder, and that his father could not read or write, and that his mother could not write.
On March 6 1881, William married Sarah Jane Snyder, the daughter of David & Susannah (Shaffer) Snyder.  William & Susan Houser were the parents of 8 children:
The 1900 Census lists William as a day laborer.  Two of his daughters, Celestia & Lizzie, have married and both them and their spouses are living with William & Sarah, along with Thomas, Susan, & William jr.  William's mother Annie is listed next door, a widow.  By 1910, William has moved to Perry County Ohio with his wife, and Susan 17, WIlliam 15, Jennie 8 & Iva 3.   In 1920 he was back in Pennsylvania, listed as a house carpenter.

In 1923 William died.   He is buried in Saint John United Bretheran Cemtery in Port Trevorton, Snyder County Pa.

The census clearly shows Sarah Jane is the daughter of David H. & Susanna...   I think William JR made a mistake when filling out the death certificate.

Her obit also lists David as her father.
