Daniel Ande 1799-1870

4th great grandparents of Heather, Maternal Line

Daniel Ande
son of Johannes Philip Endy
Born: May 13 1799
Died: April 1 1870
Married
Christiana Cromley
Daughter of George & Anna Margareta (Musik) Cromley
Born 1798
Died Aug 11 1881

Children:
John Ande 1816-1909
Sarah Ande Born between 1821 & 1825
Rebecca Ande 1826-1902 M. Abraham Fortner
Julia Ann Ande 1827-1896 M. Jacob Confer
Mary Ande  1828 -1915 m. Jacob Albeck
Hannah Ande 1833 M. Isaac Womer
Charles Ande 1834
Magdalena Ande 1838-1919 m. Philip Dewald

Death certificates are making the list of children even more confusing.  There are death certificates for a John Ande born 1816  - but a census record for a John Ande born 1831.  There's a death certificate for Magdalena (Ande) Dewald born 1838, but in 1840 there is no Madgalena, only a Mary age 14, but the death certificate for Mary shows she was born in 1828.  To further complicate this, in 1832 Christina's father willed half of her portion to Christina's daughter Sarah - she's the only child mentioned in his will - not Rebecca, Julia Ann, Mary...  As for the two John's, Christina's sister Catharine had a son John Andy - also mentioned in their father, George Cromley's, will.  Could that be the John Andy born in 1816?

? - Christiana Born

the find a grave entry for her daughter July Ann states that "Her mother's name was Christiann nee Carmlich " . Her find a grave entry lists her name as Cromley
Two of her children's death certificates list her maiden name as Cromley.

Her age varies so much in each census, it's no help for calculating her birth year:
1850 census - age 54, 1796
1860 census - Age 62, 1798
1870 census - Age 76, 1794
1880 census - age 73, 1807

Her  parents are George Cromley (son of Valentine Gromlich) and Anna Margareta Musik.  Christina is listed in her fathers will -
The will of George Cremlich/Cromlish of Hemlock Twp., Columbia County, dated 15 Aug 1823.  Letters of Administration were granted 08 Sep 1823. Included in the will are wife Margarate and sons Paul, John, Daniel,

Peter, and Jacob, daughters Mary, Ulian [obviously a mispelling of Julian Ann- see notes under Julia Ann], Margarate, Betsy, wife of Philip Kinder, Magdalen, wife of Jacob Kuntz, Christina, wife of Daniel Andy, Catharine, wife of Daniel Mowery.

1799- Daniel is Born:
I'm not sure of his age when he was baptized -but suspect he was not an infant.  Land warrant in 1814, son born in 1816...  he's probably a few years older than this.  Date is from his tombstone - but it's hard to read. I need to go look at it for myself.

age 15?  This seems a bit young for a land warrant?  He had son in 1816 (possibly - was the John Andy born in 1816 his nephew?) - so I'm questioning his birth date.

NOTE - a second John Ande appears in the 1850 census, with a birth year of approximately 1831.  George Cromleys will mentions his grandon John Andy, son of CATHARINE who is now married to Daniel Mowrey, according to his will.  Did Catharine and Christina marry brothers?
