An article in the Harrisburg Telegraph in 1911 states that Susan never learned english - even though she was born here in America. All of her children must have been fluent in German.
The article in 1911 states that Susan only had 10 children, with 8 living in 1911. The census shows 11 children.

In Perry County Tax records for Spring Twp, 5/19/1864, Elias Arney was listed on the tenant's list with his name crossed out. His name was completely absent the next year (4/3/1865). In the records for Saville Twp, Elias Arney was listed 4/20/1863 but paid no taxes, apparently because he paid in Spring Twp. In 4/7/1864 he was listed and paid taxes in Saville Twp.
"Until she met with an accident last fall, she had never had a serious illness Then the drs gave up hope for reovery. She was thrown from a wagon by a runaway team. She soon recovered from that injury, Her face was cut and her scalp gashed at the base of her skull."
