JOHN SMITH

Died 23 Apr 1877 in Anth. Twp., Montour Co., PA.
 married

Born 31 May 1803 in Berks Co., PA,
Died 2 Oct 1883 in Anth. Twp., Montour Co., PA

Note - Hannah is referred to as "Stufflick" in many online sites, and in a historical book.  She's actually Hannah Stofflet, as the Egypt church records show.  Her parents are there in the church with her and John Smith

Sarah A Smith 6
Jonas Smith 30
Mary Smith 21
Hannah M Smith 4/12

Note -
There is a birth/baptism record on page 25 of the Zion Spies Evangelical Church Records, berks Co Pa,  for a John Shmidt born 10/31/1796 bp 1/8/1797 parents Frank & Barbara, sp. George Babb & Wife Sophia.  Found while researching the Schmeck line, placing here to rule out later.  (Dates do not match, but is birth date proven?)

Children:

In the 1840 census there are the following unknown - may be children, or may be unrelated:

Male born between 1826-1830
Female born between 1835-1840
Female between 1826-1830
Female born 1821-1825

Known Children:

Stephen Smith Dec. 26, 1822
Jonas Smith 1828-1899
Jane Smith Abt.1831 M. Andrew Ellis
James Smith Abt 1832-1839
    George Smith 1834-1902
Levi Smith 1838 -
Samuel Smith - 1840
John Smith 1847-
Jonathan Smith 1848

Sarah 1854-
There is a Sarah, Age 6, in the  1860 census.  Jonas, his wife and their daughter Hannah are also on there..  But Sarah is not theirs.  Born in 1854, Hannah would have been 51 when she was born.  Possible? But she is not there in 1870, at age 16, so I am not convinced.

1830 Census
Name: John Smith
Home in 1830 (City, County, State): Derry, Columbia, Pennsylvania
Free White Persons - Males - Under 5: 1 (Jonas?)
Free White Persons - Males - 15 thru 19: 1

Free White Persons - Females - 50 thru 59: 1
Free White Persons - Under 20: 2
Free White Persons - 20 thru 49: 2 (Hannah & )
Total Free White Persons: 5
Total - All Persons (Free White, Slaves, Free Colored): 5

In 1830 John & Hannah have been married for 10 years.  He would be 34 in this census.  I only have record of two children being born before 1830 - Stephen & Jonas but there were likely others.  Still none of his children could have been over 15..  and it doesn't account for Stephen being around age 7..  I'm not convinced this is John & Hannah.
