Where To Start:

  • Google Your Ancestor  - you may be surprised by how much turns up in a google search.  Just remember that everything posted on the internet is not true - even when it comes to genealogy.
  • Check Find A Grave.  www.findagrave.com
  • Check the 1880 Census.  It is free, either through Ancestry (with the free membership) or through https://familysearch.org/
  • Did your ancestor die between 1906 & 1936?  Then their death certificate may tell you who their parents were.  Or, the death certificates of the children might give you the mothers maiden name.  Pa Death Certificate Index Search

A Fun Resource:
It has a great relationship chart, wanted posters, what things cost in 1830, genealogy terms explained, epidemics, a great page on how to clean a headstone (the results are amazing!) and more.  http://www.tsgraves.com/relics/index.htm

New to me blog - lots of info, and pics, here!
Mainly Berwick I think, from what I have seen so far - but she has lots of family obits scanned in too.  Looks like it hasn't been updated in awhile, but still a great collection.
